ZECA Is a Proud North Carolina A+ School
ZECA School of Arts & Technology is proud to be recognized as a North Carolina A+ School, part of the state’s longest-running, nationally respected whole-school reform model that places the arts at the heart of teaching and learning.
Established in North Carolina in 1995, A+ Schools of North Carolina—a signature program of the North Carolina Arts Council—views the arts not as an add-on, but as a powerful driver of academic excellence, creativity, and student engagement. Through this model, state-mandated curriculum is taught using collaboration, innovation, and multi-disciplinary integration, with the arts intentionally woven into every child’s learning experience.
At ZECA, the A+ philosophy aligns seamlessly with our R.E.A.L. Approach—Relationships, Emotional Intelligence, Academics, and Love.
-
Relationships are strengthened through collaborative learning, shared creative experiences, and community-centered instruction.
-
Emotional Intelligence is nurtured as students express themselves through the arts, develop confidence, and learn to regulate emotions in healthy, meaningful ways.
-
Academics are elevated through rigorous, standards-based instruction delivered via arts integration that deepens understanding and retention.
-
Love is reflected in our commitment to honoring student voice, culture, creativity, and the belief that every child is capable of excellence.
By blending the A+ Schools framework with the R.E.A.L. Approach, ZECA creates a learning environment where students are not only academically challenged—but emotionally supported, creatively inspired, and empowered to thrive.
At ZECA, the arts are not an elective.
They are a pathway to purpose, connection, and achievement.
